A matric written through the school is a real National Senior Certificate with the same standing as any other. Two points are worth understanding before you enrol. The school is registered as a distance education provider rather than as an independent school, and it does not hold accreditation in its own name, which it acknowledges by describing itself as operating under the accreditation of registered examination bodies. CambriLearn is registered with SACAI and the IEB on the same basis, and additionally holds Cognia accreditation of the school itself and NCAA approval.

Not in the sense most parents assume. The school is operated by Valenture Institute (Pty) Ltd under an agreement with the University of Cape Town. UCT's own page states that Valenture launched the school by agreement with the university, the school's terms and conditions name Valenture as the contracting party, and the school's footer describes it as a division of Valenture. The two organisations share a governance structure, and UCT's Vice-Chancellor chairs the oversight committee, so the university's involvement is real rather than a logo licence. The matric certificate is not a UCT qualification and carries no University of Cape Town admission advantage. It depends on the age of your child and where they are heading. CambriLearn teaches ages 4 to 19, UCT Online High School teaches Grades 8 to 12, so a family with a younger child has no option there. CambriLearn teaches six pathways across five curricula, UCT Online High School publishes CAPS, Adult Matric and Cambridge at Year 10 only. CambriLearn teaches live on a timetable, UCT Online High School states it has no traditional live classes. Both write the National Senior Certificate through SACAI, so the South African matric carries identical standing either way. No. The school states that there are no traditional live classes. Learners work through weekly modules on a customised Moodle platform it calls the Online Campus, structured as I do, we do, you do. Live contact comes from 15-minute coach check-ins on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, livestreams with learning facilitators, and sessions where pre-curated questions are answered. The school's published expectation is 27.5 learning hours a week. CambriLearn teaches live timetabled lessons with qualified subject teachers on CambriCampus, recorded so a learner who misses one can catch up.

CambriLearn, in most cases. UCT Online High School's Grade 12 examinations are set by SACAI and must be written at a physical examination venue in South Africa. At UCT Online High School the practical options are CAPS or Cambridge Year 10, and because the Cambridge route does not yet run past Year 10, a learner who wants an international qualification would need to move schools to complete it.
