Job Description

Role Overview

The BI & Analytics Lead is the business-facing counterpart to our Data Engineering function. This role owns the relationship between BI and the wider business, partnering closely with stakeholders to shape analytics projects, define reporting requirements, and deliver trusted insights.

You will be responsible for translating business needs into actionable analytics solutions, owning the reporting layer, and ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate,meaningful data. Alongside the Data Engineering team, you share responsibility for the integrity and reliability of the metrics presented across the organisation.

This is a senior, autonomous role requiring someone who can independently scope projects, manage stakeholder expectations, and deliver outcomes without extensive technical oversight.

Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement & Project Delivery

  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making.
  • Scope analytics and reporting projects end-to-end, translating ambiguous requests into clear deliverables.
  • Define project timelines, priorities, and success criteria.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate progress effectively.

Business Intelligence & Analytics

  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions in Power BI.
  • You will primarily work with the Gold layer consumed by Power BI.
  • The Data Engineering team owns the warehouse-side data model.
  • You will own the report-side model within Power BI (relationships, measures, semantic modelling).
  • Develop meaningful metrics and reporting that drive business decisions.
  • Ensure reports are intuitive, accurate, and aligned with stakeholder needs.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Validate business logic and reporting outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and investigate data quality issues, partnering with the Data Engineering team to resolve root causes.
  • Act as a steward for trusted business metrics and reporting standards.

Ad Hoc Analysis

  • Respond to short-term analytical requests from the business.
  • Perform exploratory analysis to answer business questions and uncover insights.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve recurring requests into scalable reporting solutions.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Maintain clear documentation for dashboards, business logic, project decisions, and data quality findings.
  • Ensure reporting assets and analytical processes can be understood and maintained by the wider team.

Requirements

Essential

  • 4+ years' experience in a Business Intelligence, Analytics, or similar role.
  • 3+ years’ experience with SQL and Python for analysis and investigation.
  • Proven experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders to scope and deliver data projects.
  • Strong ability to challenge unclear requirements and push back on poorly scoped or premature requests.
  • Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports in a modern BI platform.
  • Experience using Git for version control.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written communication skills and a habit of documenting work proactively.

Nice to Have

  • Relevant degree/diploma.
  • Power BI experience (our current BI platform).
  • Salesforce experience.
  • Google Ads and/or GA4 experience.
  • Experience in Education Technology (EdTech) or SaaS environments.

Reporting Line

  • Reports to the CTO.

Working Arrangement

  • Fully remote.
