Yes. Parents in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can educate a child outside school, including through an online school, as long as the child receives a suitable full-time education.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland you do not need a teaching qualification or the National Curriculum. CambriLearn teaches and assesses your child on a published timetable, and you provide somewhere quiet to learn.
If your child is on a school roll, write to the head teacher to take them off it before their first lesson with us. The school then tells the local authority.
In Scotland, taking a child out of a state school needs the council's consent first. Apply before you enrol, and your consultant will plan a start date around the answer.

Online education for children in England sits outside the independent school registration system, so an online school's badges mean something different from a local school's.
See our accreditation in fullOfsted grades registered schools with physical premises. An online school is not a registered independent school, so it has no Outstanding, Good, Requires improvement or Inadequate judgement. If an online school shows you an Ofsted grade, ask to see the report.
The Department for Education runs the Online Education Accreditation Scheme for providers of full-time online education to children of compulsory school age in England. Ofsted inspects applicants against the scheme's standards and publishes a report, and the DfE decides whether to accredit.
Eligibility includes a physical presence in England. Accredited providers are listed on the Get Information about Schools register, so you can check any claim yourself. Read the DfE guidance.
CambriLearn is accredited by Cognia, which reviews the school itself: governance, teaching, assessment and how it improves over time. We are an approved Pearson Edexcel centre, courses on our US K-12 pathway are NCAA approved, and we have taught online since 2008.
We do not hold DfE accreditation. On either British pathway, your child sits International GCSE and A Level papers as a private candidate at a registered centre.

Early Years to A Level, ages 4 to 19
The full British pathway through Primary and Lower Secondary to International GCSE, AS and A Level. Cambridge Assessment International Education or Pearson Edexcel sets the papers, depending on the subject.

International GCSE, AS and A Level
The same British qualifications through Pearson Edexcel, one of the largest awarding organisations in the UK. CambriLearn is an approved Pearson Edexcel centre, and our Exam Officers help you find a UK centre and keep track of entry deadlines.
From £418.10 a subject, a year
International GCSE on Standard, paid up front. Six subjects come to £2,508.60 for the year, or £296.04 a month over ten instalments.
UK universities routinely accept International GCSE and International A Level, and UCAS publishes a Qualification Information Profile for both, which admissions teams use to assess them. The certificate records the subject and the grade, and says nothing about how your child studied.
Online A Levels for UK studentsOfqual regulates the GCSE and A Level taken in English schools. International GCSE and International A Level are not on its Register of Regulated Qualifications, and they sit outside the UCAS Tariff, so check the entry requirements each course states. Pearson designs its International GCSE to the same standard as its GCSE 9 to 1, with the same grading scale.
Pearson Edexcel International AS and A Levels are available to students at international schools outside the UK and to students at online schools, but not to schools in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or British Armed Forces schools overseas (source: UCAS Qualification Information Profile, Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level). A UK family reaches them through an online school. Not sure which pathway fits? A consultant will look at your child's year group, subjects and university plans, then recommend a pathway and a starting level.
CambriLearn charges per subject, so the total follows the subjects your child takes. Six International GCSE subjects on the Standard package come to £2,508.60 for the year, paid up front.
Per subject and per level, so a primary year and an A Level year cost very different amounts. You choose the package per subject, which means Maths can sit on Premium while subjects your child handles well stay on Standard.
Pay for the year up front, or spread it over ten monthly instalments, which come to about 18% more across the year. Choosing instalments commits you to all ten. New enrolments pay a one-off registration charge of £70.30.
Standard covers the live timetabled lessons, the recorded lesson library, marked assignments with teacher feedback and progress tracking. Premium adds direct teacher chat, a weekly live question and answer session and marked mock exams at International GCSE, AS and A Level.

Per subject, per year. The first figure is the fee paid up front, and the monthly figure is one of ten instalments. Rates are the same on the International British Curriculum and Pearson Edexcel at every level shown. Placement is by readiness rather than age, so your consultant confirms the level for each subject. Textbooks, a device, an internet connection and exam centre fees are not included.
Tuition is charged in US dollars at $320, $370, $440, $565 and $605 a subject a year on Standard, and $790, $790, $840, $1,115 and $1,300 on Premium, in the level order above. Registration is $95. Pound figures are shown at $1 to £0.74 and are indicative, so the sterling total moves with the rate on the day you pay. The fee calculator converts at the live rate and gives your child's exact total.
On either pathway, your child sits International GCSE and A Level papers in person at a registered centre, as a private candidate. You register with the centre, and our Exam Officers help with every step before that.
Your consultant and the subject teachers confirm which board sets the papers for each subject. Subjects can sit with different boards in the same year, and the board decides whether a practical applies.
Not every UK centre accepts private candidates, and those that do have limited places. Our Exam Officers suggest centres near you and confirm the subject codes you need.
You register and pay the centre directly. Registration opens about four months before a series, and entries for May and June typically close in February.
Your child writes the papers at the centre under exam conditions. Results appear online on results day through a login from the centre, and the board issues certificates through the centre.
Tutors and Exams runs private candidate centres in Birmingham, Bolton, Coventry, Doncaster, High Wycombe, Mitcham, Newcastle, Romford, St Neots and Taunton. Ark Education Centre in Ilford takes Pearson Edexcel private candidates at Unit 2, 388 High Road, IG1 1TL. Centres change their availability, fees and registration process, so confirm the details with the centre you choose.

Cambridge papers carry a practical at AS Level, which means registering at a centre that can run it, and for most UK science students that decides the board.

Ask how many live lessons your child gets each week and who teaches them, who accredits the school and where that is published, which qualifications your child will sit and where, and what a full year costs once exam fees are added. This page answers each of those for CambriLearn.
Not as a full-time school that parents can simply join. Local authorities sometimes arrange online education for a child who cannot attend school, but the council decides on and pays for that. Independent online schools, CambriLearn included, charge fees. Oak National Academy publishes free video lessons, which some home educating families use as a resource.
One a week in each subject, and two in some subjects. A child taking six International GCSE subjects has at least six live lessons a week, each recorded, with marked assignments set between them. Premium adds a weekly 30-minute question and answer session with the subject teacher.
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, yes. A child taught full time through an online school instead of a registered school is home educated in law, and you stay responsible for making sure they receive a suitable full-time education. In Scotland, you need the council's consent before taking a child out of a state school.

Usually, yes. If your child is partway through International GCSE or International A Level with Pearson Edexcel or Cambridge, tell your consultant the board and subjects so we can place them at the right point in each course. Moving from a UK GCSE or A Level means switching to the international version of each subject, which overlaps with the UK course but has its own specification and papers. Your consultant will confirm where your child picks up.
