Why UK families choose it

Why UK Families Are Choosing Online School

Online school in the UK is no longer a fringe alternative. It is an accredited pathway that thousands of families choose every year, particularly for Key Stage 3 through A Level, where subject specialism and exam outcomes matter most.

CambriLearn has taught more than 80,000 students across 100+ countries over 20 years, with Pearson Edexcel-accredited International GCSE and A Level qualifications that UCAS, every Russell Group university, and employers worldwide recognise. Six things a UK family gets here, from the first consultation to results day.

01

Teaching matched to your child

In a class of 30, your child moves at the room's pace. At CambriLearn, specialist teachers deliver live timetabled lessons and set work that stretches strong subjects and gives extra time where it is needed.

02

Qualifications recognised by UCAS

International GCSE and A Level qualifications, set by examination boards used by thousands of UK schools including Pearson Edexcel. Recognised by UCAS, Russell Group universities, and employers worldwide.

03

A specialist teacher for every subject

Every subject is taught by a qualified specialist, not a form teacher covering several subjects at once. Live lessons give your child direct interaction, backed by a full library of recorded lessons to revisit any topic.

04

Training, travel and health fit around lessons

Elite sport, performing arts, family travel, or a health condition can all sit alongside a full academic timetable. Your child attends live lessons and learns from home, anywhere in the UK or abroad. No commute.

05

Away from bullying and social pressure

Bullying, social pressure, and anxiety are leading more UK families to look again at traditional school. Online school lifts those pressures while holding firm on academic rigour and real social connection.

06

Clubs, events and meetups through CambriCommunity

CambriCommunity connects your child with peers who share their interests. Clubs, events, group activities, and real-world adventures, across the UK and globally.

How Online School Works in the UK

Online school in the UK follows the same academic standards as traditional schools. Instead of sitting in a physical classroom, your child attends live timetabled lessons, completes assignments, and works with their teachers through a structured online school. Every CambriLearn student follows a structured weekly timetable taught by qualified, subject-specialist teachers: live lessons for direct teaching, a recorded lesson library for revision, regular assignments with teacher feedback, and dedicated tutor support for one-to-one guidance.

Home education, including online schooling, is legal across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. You do not need to follow the National Curriculum, use registered teachers, or hold any qualifications yourself. CambriLearn provides the structure, teaching, and support your child needs, and you provide the environment at home.

Fees, in the open

How Much Does Online School Cost in the UK?

CambriLearn charges per subject rather than one bundled school fee. At International GCSE a subject is £493.40 a year on the Standard package or £973.60 on Premium. Primary and lower secondary subjects start at £279.40 a year. Tuition is billed monthly across the school year. A one-off registration charge of £70.30 applies to new enrolments, and examination entry fees are set by the examination board.

A six-subject International GCSE year on Standard therefore comes to about £2,960. UK online schools typically charge £3,000 to £6,000 a year at the mid-market and £6,000 to £11,000 or more at the premium live-taught end, while independent day school fees in England run from £12,000 to £45,000 or more before transport, uniforms and extras.

Every fee is published on our pricing page, with no enquiry form between you and the number. Fees are set in US dollars and shown here in pounds at $1 to £0.74, so the sterling total moves with the exchange rate on the day you pay.

Examinations

Your child's exams, handled

CambriLearn is a Pearson Edexcel-accredited centre. Our exams team guides every family through examination registration, entries, and preparation, so you are never left to find a centre willing to take a private candidate and manage deadlines on your own.

Families studying independently have to find a centre that accepts private candidates, pay entry fees subject by subject, and track every deadline themselves. CambriLearn students carry none of that alone, and your consultant walks you through the examination arrangements for your child's subjects before you enrol.

Accreditation, in the open

What makes CambriLearn different from other UK online schools?

Most online schools offer a single curriculum and thin support. CambriLearn gives UK families Pearson Edexcel-accredited qualifications, live lessons with specialist teachers, and 20 years of results. Here is exactly what CambriLearn holds, what each accreditation covers, and the straight answer to the Ofsted question.

01

Pearson Edexcel Accredited

CambriLearn is a Pearson Edexcel-accredited centre. Your child's International GCSE and A Level qualifications are recognised by UCAS and carry identical weight to those from any UK school. Pearson Edexcel is one of the UK's largest examination boards, regulated by Ofqual.

02

Cognia Accredited

Accredited internationally by Cognia, which covers 36,000+ institutions across 85 countries. Cognia accredits the school itself: governance, teaching quality, and continuous improvement, to the same standard used by leading schools worldwide.

03

UCAS & NCAA Recognition

Pearson Edexcel International A Levels are accepted through UCAS for university applications across the UK, and our graduates hold places at Russell Group universities. CambriLearn is also NCAA approved, which opens US college sports scholarships to student athletes.

Are CambriLearn qualifications recognised by UK universities?

Yes. Pearson Edexcel International A Levels carry UCAS tariff points and are accepted by Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, Edinburgh, King's, Bristol, Manchester, and LSE, alongside every Russell Group institution and universities in more than 100 countries. 98% of CambriLearn graduates receive a university acceptance.

The straight answer on Ofsted

No online school in the UK receives a graded Ofsted inspection. Online providers cannot register as independent schools without physical premises, so none of them, whatever their marketing suggests, holds an Ofsted grade. What exists instead is the Department for Education's voluntary Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS), which a small number of providers have joined.

So when you compare online schools, the question that decides your child's future is not an inspection badge. It is whether the qualifications they earn are recognised by universities and employers. CambriLearn students sit Pearson Edexcel International GCSE and A Level examinations, set by an examination board regulated by Ofqual, recognised by UCAS, and accepted by every Russell Group university. That recognition, together with Cognia accreditation of the school itself, is what your child carries with them.

"Our daughter was struggling with anxiety at her secondary school in Surrey. The pressure was relentless. Since moving to CambriLearn she's gone from dreading every morning to actually enjoying her studies. Her predicted grades have gone up two levels."

"Our son trains six days a week at a county cricket academy. No school could accommodate his schedule. CambriLearn lets him study around training blocks and he's on track for strong A Level results. The Edexcel qualifications are exactly what he needs for university."

"We relocated from London to Dubai for work and needed our children to continue with British qualifications. CambriLearn made the transition seamless. Same Edexcel curriculum, same quality, no disruption. They're both applying to Russell Group universities through UCAS next year."

Who it suits

Who Is Online School in the UK For?

Online school suits any UK family that wants accredited, internationally recognised education without the constraints of a traditional classroom. These are the most common profiles across CambriLearn's 80,000+ student community.

Elite Athletes and Performers

Competitive swimmers, tennis players, footballers, equestrians, dancers, and musicians need a school day that traditional schools cannot offer. CambriLearn lets students train during the day and attend live lessons around their competition calendars. Our NCAA approval also opens the door to US college sports scholarships for students with international athletic ambitions.

Children with SEN, Anxiety, or Health Conditions

Children with anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, chronic illness, or physical disabilities often struggle in the rigid environment of a traditional school. CambriLearn pairs live timetabled teaching with dedicated tutor support on Premium packages, so these students learn in an environment built around their needs, without compromising on academic outcomes or the quality of their qualifications.

British Expat Families

British families living in the UAE, Europe, Asia, or Africa who want their children to keep a UK-standard education. CambriLearn's Pearson Edexcel qualifications are recognised in over 100 countries. If you move again, the curriculum travels with you, with no lost academic years, no repeated coursework, and the same UCAS application at the end of it.

Gifted and Academically Advanced Children

Bright students held back by the pace of a class of 30 often disengage and underperform. With CambriLearn, specialist teachers can stretch gifted children through harder material, add subjects, or enter them for examinations early, so a strong subject can move at the pace the child is actually capable of.

Families Who Travel or Live Abroad

Whether you are a globe-trotting family, a military family, or simply living overseas, CambriLearn delivers a complete school experience from anywhere with an internet connection. Lessons run to a fixed weekly timetable, so a change of country does not cost your child an academic year.

Parents Concerned About Bullying and School Culture

Bullying, social pressure, and toxic school environments are leading more UK families to reconsider traditional education. Online school removes these pressures while keeping real social connection through CambriCommunity: clubs, events, group activities, and real-world adventures.

Yes. Home education, including online schooling, is legal across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Parents have the right to educate their children outside the state sector, provided the child receives a suitable full-time education. You do not need to follow the National Curriculum, hold teaching qualifications, or ask for permission, though you should deregister formally if your child currently attends school. CambriLearn provides the structure, teaching, and support.

These qualifications carry UCAS tariff points and are accepted by every Russell Group university, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, and Edinburgh. No online school in the UK receives a graded Ofsted inspection, because online providers cannot register as independent schools without physical premises. The Department for Education runs a voluntary Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS) for online providers instead. What matters for your child's future is whether their qualifications are recognised: CambriLearn is accredited by Cognia and is a Pearson Edexcel-accredited centre, and students sit examinations set by Pearson Edexcel, an examination board regulated by Ofqual.

CambriOS is what runs CambriLearn: four connected school experiences working as one school. CambriCampus is the live school day. Our graduates achieve a 98% university acceptance rate across Russell Group and international institutions.

CambriLearn runs CambriCommunity, where students connect through live group activities, virtual clubs, study groups, and real-world meetups. Students also work alongside teachers and peers during live lessons every day. Many families find that removing the social pressures of a traditional classroom helps their children build healthier, more genuine friendships.

Most UK families choose the International British Curriculum, which runs from primary through sixth form. The Pearson Edexcel pathway covers International GCSE and International A Level. Both are recognised by UK universities and accepted through UCAS. CambriLearn also offers CAPS, US K-12, and other routes for families with specific needs.
