Teneo figures reflect what the organisation published on teneoschool.co.za and teneoschool.com on 11 September 2026. Teneo runs two websites for one organisation, so the Teneo column covers both. Not published means the school does not state that credential. Both schools revise their offering each year, so confirm current detail before enrolling.

Breadth

Six routes out and where each one leads

All six sit inside one school, so a learner who starts on CAPS and later moves to an international qualification stays enrolled with CambriLearn.

CAPS

National Senior Certificate

The South African national curriculum from the early grades to matric, with the National Senior Certificate written through SACAI and certified by Umalusi.

KABV

Nasionale Senior Sertifikaat

The same national curriculum taught in Afrikaans through to the Nasionale Senior Sertifikaat, with Grade 12 available for the 2027 school year.

IEB

IEB National Senior Certificate

A standalone pathway. Grade 10 opened in 2026 and Grade 11 is open for 2027, so the first CambriLearn IEB cohort has not yet reached matric.

International British

International GCSE and A Level

The British curriculum from the early years upward, for families who expect to move country or apply to universities abroad.

Pearson Edexcel

International GCSE and International A Level

Accredited by Pearson Edexcel to deliver and enter learners for qualifications accepted across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and the Commonwealth.

United States K-12

United States high school diploma

Delivered with Score Academy Online, leading to an accredited United States high school diploma. Held alongside NCAA approval for learners pursuing athletic eligibility.

Questions parents ask

Choosing between the two

If your question is not here, ask us directly. We would rather answer it before you enrol than after.

Is CambriLearn or Teneo better?

The two schools differ on what they publish. CambriLearn teaches six pathways across five curricula, Teneo publishes two. CambriLearn offers a United States diploma and CAPS in Afrikaans, Teneo publishes neither. CambriLearn is accredited by Cognia and approved by the NCAA, Teneo publishes neither credential. CambriLearn teaches from age 4, Teneo from Grade R. CambriLearn has taught more than 80,000 students since 2008 with more than 16,000 matriculated, and Teneo publishes more than 20,000 educated and more than 4,000 matriculants since 2018. Both are registered with SACAI and the IEB, so the matric certificate itself carries identical standing either way.

Are CambriLearn and Teneo both properly accredited?

Yes. Both are registered with SACAI and with the IEB, and both are accredited by Pearson Edexcel. Neither is accredited by Umalusi, because Umalusi accredits examination bodies rather than schools. CambriLearn holds two credentials Teneo does not publish: Cognia accreditation and NCAA approval. Our full credential detail sits on the CambriLearn accreditation page, and you can compare every accredited online school in the country on our accreditation directory.

Why does Teneo have two websites?

Teneo operates teneoschool.co.za for South African families and teneoschool.com for international families. They are two sites belonging to one organisation, not two separate schools. The South African site covers Grade R to 12 with CAPS and the British International route. The international site covers ages 11 to 19 on the Pearson Edexcel curriculum only. Which one you land on changes what you are shown, so check both before deciding what Teneo offers.

Which school has the longer track record?

CambriLearn, by a clear margin. We began teaching in 2008 as TopDog Education and have educated more than 80,000 students, of whom more than 16,000 have matriculated or graduated. Teneo was established in 2018 and publishes more than 20,000 learners educated and more than 4,000 matriculants.

Can my child sit an IEB matric with CambriLearn?

Yes. CambriLearn is registered with the IEB and runs it as a standalone pathway rather than as an examination choice attached to CAPS. Grade 10 opened in 2026 and Grade 11 is open for 2027, so the first CambriLearn IEB cohort is still working through the phase. A Grade 10 learner enrolling now follows the pathway straight through to matric. Our SACAI National Senior Certificate route, by contrast, has run since 2008 and accounts for the bulk of our 16,000 matriculants.

Which school is better for a child heading to a university abroad?

Both schools offer Pearson Edexcel International A Levels, which are accepted across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America and the Commonwealth. CambriLearn additionally holds Cognia accreditation, offers a United States high school diploma through Score Academy Online, and is NCAA approved. Teneo publishes none of those three.

What is CambriOS, and does Teneo have an equivalent?

CambriOS is CambriLearn's own school system, designed and built in house. It runs four connected school experiences: CambriCampus for lessons, CambriPathways for curriculum and subject planning, CambriCommunity for clubs, events and extramural activities, and CambriCommand for parent oversight. Teneo publishes one system, the Smart School System, which it describes as tracking attendance, engagement, assignments and results. On extramural activities specifically, Teneo's terms describe a Marketplace where third-party providers advertise activities and tutoring, whereas CambriCommunity is run by the school.

Which school is better value?

Both schools charge by curriculum, grade and level of teacher support, so a single headline figure will not compare them. Ask each school for tuition, registration, examination entry fees, textbooks and any device requirement, for the exact grade and subject load your child will take. Examination body fees are payable to SACAI, the IEB or Pearson Edexcel on top of tuition at both schools. CambriLearn fees are on the CambriLearn pricing page.

What if my child needs to change curriculum partway through?

Six pathways sit inside one CambriLearn school, so a move from CAPS to the International British route, or from the British route to a United States diploma, happens without changing schools, re-enrolling or losing a year. Teneo publishes two pathways, CAPS and British International, and no United States or Afrikaans route.
