Content & Social Media Lead
Purpose of the Role:
This is a senior, hands-on role with two core mandates: full ownership of social media strategy and content production across all three brands, and a leading role in elevating the creative quality of the marketing team's output.
You will lead a small content team, produce work yourself, and bring strong creative judgment to the broader marketing function. You will report directly to the Head of Marketing and work closely with the Brand Marketing Manager to ensure that everything reaching an audience meets a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute social media strategy across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X for all brands within the group.
- Plan and manage content calendars, ensuring a consistent cadence of high-quality, platform-native content across all channels.
- Create content across formats: short-form and long-form video, reels, carousels, stories, and static posts.
- Monitor and respond to trends, industry developments, and breaking education news with timely, relevant content.
- Track and report on social performance metrics including engagement rate, share rate, audience growth, and content quality indicators.
- Maintain an active, engaged community presence across all platforms and brands.
Content Production
- Coordinate the production of content end-to-end (combining in-house and external vendors where necessary): concept, film, edit, design, write, and publish.
- Coordinate content capture with key stakeholders including students, educators, and families.
- Brief and manage external creative and production partners where required.
- Build and maintain an organised content library aligned to brand and campaign priorities.
- Leverage AI-assisted creative tools as part of the production workflow.
Creative Quality & Brand Consistency
- Partner with the Brand Marketing Manager to review and elevate campaign assets, email creative, advertising visuals, and branded collateral, bringing a strong creative lens to the team's quality process.
- Champion brand voice, visual identity, and copy standards across all customer-facing touchpoints, working with the wider team to maintain consistency.
- Provide constructive, specific creative feedback to team members and external partners, raising the standard through demonstration, not just direction.
- Work as a creative partner to the Brand Marketing Manager and Head of Marketing, contributing creative expertise to campaigns, communications, and content across the team.
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of content and community specialists.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and create accountability for output quality and deadlines.
- Establish efficient workflows and production processes that maintain creative standards at volume.
Requirements:
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in content creation, social media management, or a related creative marketing role.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media strategy and execution for a brand or portfolio of brands, with measurable results in audience growth, engagement, and brand awareness.
- Proven track record of producing high-quality content across multiple formats: video (short-form and long-form), graphic design, photography, and copywriting.
- Experience managing or leading a small creative or content team.
- Experience working across multiple brands or business units simultaneously is strongly preferred.
- Background in education, EdTech, or a similarly regulated or mission-driven sector is advantageous but not essential.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional creative judgment: the ability to assess the quality of visual, written, and video content and articulate what needs to improve and why.
- Strong production skills across video editing, graphic design, and copywriting. You are hands-on and actively contribute to the creative process.
- Deep, current knowledge of all major social media platforms, their algorithms, content formats, and audience behaviours.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English (UK English proficiency required).
- Ability to adapt brand voice and creative approach across different brands, audiences, and channels.
- Comfortable working at pace across multiple projects, brands, and deadlines without compromising quality.
- Proficiency with industry-standard creative tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut or equivalent).
- Familiarity with social media management and analytics platforms.
- Experience with AI-assisted content creation tools is advantageous.
Personal Attributes
- High creative standards with exceptional attention to detail. You notice what others miss and consistently strive for quality.
- Confident in your creative perspective, but collaborative in how you bring others along.
- Self-directed with a proactive mindset. You do not wait for a brief to see what needs to be done.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
- A natural mentor who develops people through example as much as instruction.
What Success Looks Like:
- In the first 90 days and beyond, success in this role will be measured by:

- A visible uplift in the creative quality of the team's collective output, achieved through collaboration and example.
- An efficiently managed content team delivering to calendar without bottlenecks.
- Strong brand voice consistency across all customer-facing materials.

Salary Range:
