The objective of this course is to provide students with the necessary foundation to excel in the CAPS History Grade 12 prelim and final examinations. This involves studying the evolution and progress of society over time. By delving into history, we can comprehend how past human actions and events shape the present, and influence our future, enabling us to critically assess these impacts.
The course will cover various topics, including The Cold War, Independent Africa, civil society protests from the 1950s to the 1970s, Civil Resistance in South Africa from the 1970s to the 1980s, the coming of democracy in South Africa and the process of coming to terms with the past, as well as the end of the Cold War and the establishment of a new world order from 1989 to the present.
